Updated: Jun 16, 2023

After his previous post on "Hyper Relevance as a Key Factor in Cold Emails", Joel is sharing with us more great content on his 4 Tips to Start Writing Elite Cold Emails! "4 cold email tips to stop writing stuffy sales copy (and start writing elite cold emails):

1. Write 100% to solve your prospects problem.

Fluffy personalization may stroke some egos and get a reply but you want to get sales not a new best friend. Show you can solve their problem, simple.

2. Aim to get micro commitments (not 15 mins of your time).

The worst thing you can ask of someone is to rob them of their time. Time is the most valuable thing you can ask of someone. Avoid this at all costs.

3. Don’t hold back on being conversational.

Most prospects just want to talk to someone who has the solution to their problem and understands what they’re going through.

4. Use simple, concise language.

The aim is to be widely understood by everyone. Being too clever will kill any cold email you send. Just keep it simple.

The best cold emails I get feel like a colleague just sent it to me.

The worst cold emails I get feel like a self-serving marketing email.

P.S. What’s your biggest peeve with cold emails?"
